Obituary of James F. LeGrett

James F. (Jim) LeGrett of Canandaigua NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family members after a courageous battle with cancer on June 27, 2016. Jim was born in Canandaigua, NY on December 14, 1947 and attended Canandaigua Academy, class of 1966 where he enjoyed playing football. It is there that he met his wife Barbara E. Bacon. They were married on Oct 7, 1967 Jim is the son of the late Michael and Madeline LeGrett and the brother of the late John and Kenneth (Barb) LeGrett. He is survived by his wife Barbara and their children James (Courtenay Catalfamo) LeGrett, Dean (Christina Johnson) LeGrett and Nicole (Eric Perryman) LeGrett, Five grandchildren Deanna, Tyler, Ashley, Hannah, and Eric. A sister-in-law, Suzanne (John) LeGrett as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins Jim worked for the Canandaigua DPW before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and wood working, remodeling many of his homes and building bird houses which adorned the trees in his yard. Jim had a fondness for wildlife and animals of all kinds. He spent countless hours helping couch his sons sporting activities when they were young. He also enjoyed hunting with family and friends and in later years especially with his Grandson Tyler. His greatest joy in life was to spend time with his family particularly his Grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Jim was always present rooting his grandchildren on in whatever sporting event or activity they were involved in. Friends and family may call Wednesday, July 6, from 1-3pm and 5-7pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo Street Canandaigua, NY. There will be no services at the request of the deceased; burial will be at the discretion of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lollypop Farm.
