Obituary of Irene C. Madru

Irene Cynthia Madru Canandaigua- Irene Madru passed away December 19, 2016 at Elm Manor Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis R. and sister, Harriet. Irene is survived by daughter, Kathleen (Joseph) Kaukani; grandsons, Jeremy (Charli) and Jonathan (Heather) Hoy; Jeremy's children, Gavin, Chloe, Azariah, Kaitlin and Iain; former daughter in-law, Jennifer (Warren) Owens, and nieces & nephews in NYC and Massachusetts. Irene "The Marine" was born in the Bronx and enlisted with the US Marine Corps serving as a clerk at the Pentagon. She was an Army wife, always active, and a Canandaigua resident since the 1980's, eventually becoming American Legion Post 256 commander. She helped keep the VA in Canandaigua and volunteered over 5,000 hours there. Thank you to the caring staff at Elm Manor. We will miss her. A 5pm Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28, at Fuller Funeral home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
