Doris Busby

Obituary of Doris Busby

Doris was born on Nov. 1, 1927, in Holcomb. She attended Victor High School and then worked at various local Canandaigua department stores over the years - Woolworth's, Grant's and Fishman's. Part of Doris' responsibilities at the department stores was to create and decorate the widow displays in the front of the stores. In later years Doris worked at Mapco and retired from Labelon. Doris married Donald Busby in 1945 after Donald got out of the service. They moved to Hathaway Corners. A few years later they built a house in the Baptist Hill area where they lived for about 10 years. They wanted to be closer to Donald's job at Caves Lumber so they moved into a new home in Holcomb where they resided for about 20 years. After Donald retired from Caves, they moved to North Pearl Street in Canandaigua. When Donald passed away in 1991, Doris then moved to 80 Parrish Street in Canandaigua where she resided until 2016. She currently resided at Seneca Lake Terrace. She participated in the bowling leagues at Adams Bowling Alley in Canandaigua. Doris loved her family and friends. Spending time with them was very special to her. She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Dan (Judy) Dreesen of Canandaigua, Gary (Nora) Knaak of Seneca Castle, Darlene Ridley of Charlotte, N.C., Roger (Debra) Knaak of Winterhaven, Fla., Eugene (Sande) Martin of Shortsville, Sharon (David) Chrisman of Canandaigua and Terry Martin of Geneva; and other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
