Obituary of Daniel Richard Sykes

Daniel R. Sykes Canandaigua- Daniel Sykes passed away, March 3, 2017, at the age of 63. Dan was predeceased by his father, Richard W Sykes. He is survived by his wife, Carol, mother Ida Ruth Sykes-Bauer, siblings, Stephan (Stefania), Cyndi (Robert) Watrous, Susan Sikes (Mark Travis), Beth (Joseph) Watro, Timothy (Dorothy), Amy (Stephen) Blair, John (Christine). Step- children Geoffrey (Katherine) White, Gregory (Jennifer) White, grandchildren Elijah and Gabriel. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially his fishing buddy Don. Dan was a 29 year survivor of Brain cancer and lived his life to the fullest with his disabilities. He worked 13 years for the State of New York and was very proud his involvement of the Squaw Island repair that was done in 80's. For the last several years, Dan was the Canandaigua Walmart Greeter several days per week, the job he enjoyed the most. Entertaining customer's with his jokes and putting smiles on the children as they came into the store. His summer passion was fishing with is friend Don. Dan talked fishing all the rest of the year with anyone who was interested. Dan had a strong faith and practiced it every day of his life. He will surely be missed by his family and friends and all the lives he touched. Friends may call Tuesday, March 7, from 4-8pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 10am funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 8, at the First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St. Canandaigua.
