Obituary of Jose A. Cabrera

Jose Antonio Cabrera, 86, of Farmington, NY, passed away on May 26, 2017 in Canandaigua, NY. A memorial service will be held on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18, 2017, 12 PM, at the Finger Lakes Racetrack Chapel, 5857 State Route 96, Farmington, NY. Casual onsite reception to follow. Jose was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, to Pilar Cabrera Polok and Juana Torres Del Valle on March 28, 1931. After an honorable discharge from military service, he spent most of his career following his passion: owning, training, and racing horses He came from humble beginnings, but blessed with a sharp mind and a steadfast work ethic, Jose overcame hardship to build a future for himself and his family. He spent his life providing for his family, helping his friends, and instilling his wisdom and work ethic in his children. Jose is survived by his brothers, Felix, Bernardo, and Marisabel Cabrera; daughter, Carmin Cabrera; son, Jesse Cabrera; son, Alfred Cabrera; son, Joseph (wife, Lisa) Cabrera; son, Michael Cabrera; son, Jody (wife, Jessie) Cabrera; daughter, Kelly (husband, Kevin) Cabrera-Brachle; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ramon Cabrera; brother, Victor Cabrera; and sister, Mariana Cabrera.
