Randall G. Baker

1946 – 2017

Canandaigua- Randall Gordon Baker, age 71, went to his Lord on October 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Randy was born on September 22, 1946 in Lyndonville, New York, son of Gordon and Esther Baker. 

Randy is survived by his loving family: his love Addy Baker, to whom he was married for 49 years, mother, Esther Baker, of Canandaigua, NY, daughter Alison Gleason (Peter) of Bath, New York; son Matthew (Annie) of Waterford, New York; sister Carolyn Gibson (Thomas) of Burke, Virginia; grandchildren Caitlin and Connor Gleason, Jack and Lucas Baker, nephews Jeremy (Elizabeth) Gibson, Christopher (Erica) Gibson, and Nathaniel Gibson (Adrienne Kish), and their children, cousins, and many friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Gordon Baker.

Growing up on a farm, Randy had a love of creation that led to a teaching career in the sciences. He graduated from Houghton College in 1968 and went on to teach chemistry and physics at Pal-Mac High School for 33 years. Randy served the body of Christ in various teaching and leadership roles, primarily at Zion Fellowship in Canandaigua. Other ministry opportunities took him to over 20 nations on 5 continents. He was a man of great faith and honor, loved and respected by all who knew him. We will miss him greatly.

Calling hours will be at the Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua Monday, October 23 at 4 pm to 8 pm.  A memorial service will be held 10 am Tuesday, October 24 at Zion Fellowship, 5188 Bristol Road Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Randy’s honor to Habitat for Humanity of Ontario County (ontariohabitat.org) or Canandaigua Churches in Action (churchesinaction.org).
