Life - long resident of Canandaigua passed away Sunday October 7, 2007 at Thompson Hospital. He was in his 91st year.

He was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy class of 1934 and Hobart College (Cum Laude) class of 1940. In 1948 he graduated from Harvard Law School. And was admitted to the New York State Bar in September of that year.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Virginia Roberts, daughter of the late Supreme court Justice Carroll M. Roberts and wife Dorothy and by his son

Brother Hiram (Peggy) Avery

Grandchildren Amanda Quayle (Nathan) West

Benjamin James Quayle

Sister in laws; Elizabeth L. Stevens and Rev. Peggy (Howard) Sheldon, Loretta Avery and Lois Avery.

Several Nieces and Nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers and sister in law, John and Nancy Avery and brothers, Roger and Theodore Avery.

Friends may call Thu. From 1 – 3 PM at the Fuller Funeral Home 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A Memorial service will be held Fri. at 11 AM. At the Funeral Home.
