Obituary for Catherine L. Shannon Shortsville, New York At the age of 94, Catherine passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 28, 2019. Born to Joseph and Mary Drummey in Ontario, Canada on August 30, 1925. She married James E. Shannon on June 25, 1949 in Rochester, N.Y. They lived in Boston MA., Schenectady and Rochester before building their final home in Shortsville, N.Y. After retiring from the Film Processing Division of Eastman Kodak Company in 1986, Catherine spent her time taking care of her husband until his passing in 1989. For many of the following years she enjoyed traveling to such places as Alaska with her sister-in-law, Leona Drummey. Catherine was always busy with her two favorite passions, her family and gardening. Much of her time was spent entertaining her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren along with countless hours in her flower gardens. She also was an active member of St. Dominic’s Church in Shortsville, N.Y. Catherine is pre-deceased by her husband, James along with her three brothers and three sisters. Catherine is survived by her four sons; James (Ellie), David (Janice), Daniel (Tiny) and William (Ann Marie). Beloved grandmother to Mathew Shannon and Sarah Huber (Steve), Dan Shannon (Allison) Brandon and Emily Shannon and Tom Xiao, Ryan and Josh Shannon. Cherished great grandmother of Tyler and Bryce Huber, Ashlyn, Emelia and Aidan Shannon. Brother-in-law Donald Shannon of Penfield along with many nieces and nephews from the Shannon, Dalle and Drummey families. Please join our family in celebrating her life at St. Dominic’s Church, 97 West Main St. Shortsville, N.Y. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Interment at St. Rose Cemetery will be private for immediate family. All are invited to visit the Parrish Center following the mass for a reception and visitation. Arrangements have been made by the Fuller Funeral Home in Canandaigua. The family is very grateful to the entire nursing staff and doctors on the 3rd floor/east wing of FF Thompson Hospital for the kind and loving care given to Catherine during her time there. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that all donations be made to Citizen Hose Company/Shortsville Fire Department. 5 Sheldon St. Shortsville, N.Y. 14548.
