Obituary of Richard B. Hensler

Canandaigua/Bloomfield- Richard B. Hensler, age 79, passed away on June 6, 2020. Richard was a wonderful and special father and grandfather. He is survived by his three children Timothy (Penny), Carol (Michael) Dotterweich, and Christine; six grandchildren, Morgan and Courtney Lyon, Ryan Dotterweich, Noelle, Clarissa, and Owen Hensler. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen (Max) Albertson and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Richard was born in Rochester to Bernard and Mary and predeceased by his brother Gerald. He grew up in Irondequoit and attended St. Thomas the Apostle, Aquinas High School and Alfred State College. He worked at Onondaga Litho and Southco. Richard enjoyed walks along Canandaigua Lake, birdwatching, his daily visits to Wegmans and McDonald’s and playing the Lotto. He watched the Yankees and NASCAR. He loved car shows, music, sailing, spending time at Marble Lake, but most of all spending time with his family. He had a gentle spirit and a big heart with a great sense of humor and enjoyed being around people. He taught us you may not be able to control every situation in life, but you can control your attitude and how you deal with it. Richard believed in always being humble and kind.
