Obituary of Rita M. Bridgewater

Rita Bridgewater fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday October 11, 2020 at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. She was born July 15th, 1944 in Reading, PA. Rita attended Hamburg High School. She worked in the insurance business for over 40 years and retired in 2010. Rita always dreamed of traveling and going to Egypt, but instead, she decided to settle down and raise her family. Rita is survived by her three children, Georgie Sassani (husband to Ellen Sassani) of Tampa, FL, Lori Howell (wife to Butch Howell) of Lebanon, PA, and Gina McCarraher (wife to Raymond McCarraher) of Victor, NY, as well as her siblings Shirly Sapna (wife to Sevest) of Sebring, FL, and George Heckman of Beverly Hills, FL. Rita also has 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Heckman, her sister Linda Hieser, as well as her beloved pets Bucky and Emma. Rita will be remembered for her kindness and for her honesty, as she was known to always to speak her mind. Rita enjoyed reading Stephen King novels, doing puzzles, playing board games, and watching her favorite show, Law and Order. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 23rd at 2pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua, NY. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at Willowbrook Christian Church in Victor, NY. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service and following meal will be restricted to close friends and family.
