My dear Diane,
I know first hand how much you did to help David so please have no regrets, you are a wonderful mother and support for him, his poor body just could not take it any more. He had so many things to share with others but unfortunately because of his pain he was unable to do this. Well my friend, he is now at peace, and I hope your wonderful memories of your sweet David will eventually bring you peace. Please know that I am thinking and praying for you at this difficult time! ~Debbie~

Dearest Hildebrandt family,
You are all in my thoughts and prayers during your tragic loss. Although I did not know David personally, I am confident he was an amazing young man due to the fact that I have known most of you for over 40 years. I have watched your lives unfold, enduring difficult times and overcoming them with grace. I lost my younger brother suddenly and without warning three years ago this month after years of addiction. I received a call from the coroners office in Portland Oregon, where he chose to live his life for the past 25 years. After the shock, came the peaceful feeling that he was in a better place and reunited with my Dad. I hope that you can find strength in knowing that David is now in the loving arms of his Grandma Linda and they are both watching over you and wishing you peace in your healing journey. It has been my pleasure to get to know Allison this past year through our mutual work with Habitat and she exemplifies everything I love about this family. If you need someone to talk to about losing a brother, I am here for you sweet lady. Due to a covid contact this past week, I am unable to attend this evening, but please know how much I care and share hope for your healing hearts. Stay well my friends...until we meet again.
Love,
Debbie Clune-Garigen

Hi Dianne (and family). I just heard the news. I am so, so sorry. Your pain is immeasurable and there are no words that can truly ease the pain and make this better.
I just wanted to say that your love for David never went unnoticed. Despite what challenges addiction may have thrown at your family, whenever you talked about David you still radiated with love. You showed me that a mother's love is unconditional and even though it may have been challenging, I always admired how much you loved him and how you poured every ounce you could into him. I always enjoyed our talks. I remember feeling like Allison did at times during my sister's battle, and I always remembered how strong you were and how you could always see the good even at the hardest of times. I leaned on your thoughts and always tried to be more like you.
I will always remember David as the super handsome new kid (from bloomfield.. I think) that walked into my 9th grade English class. I remember his shy, but kind personality. His smirk, his beautiful long hair and his passion for his guitar. I can remember him asking me to buy one of his tickets for a show that he was as playing in up in the city . I bought the ticket just to talk to him, knowing full well my dad would never let me go, haha!
Sending you strength today, Thursday and all the days to come - those random days, to holidays to birthdays ... Please know you can always reach out and tell me a memory/story about him. I would love to listen ... His name should always be in conversations to come, sharing all the good and love that David brought.
Love you! See you Thursday.

I wish to send my deepest sympathy for the loss of your precious son David.
David was a great kid that was often over after school, playing with my sons Oliver and Henry. Snack time, homework, legos and action figures were the order of events in those days. David was always happy and a lot of fun. Many charming holidays were shared together and I will always cherish these memories of David and Allison.
Substance addictions have afflicted our family through the generations and my heart aches for your wonderful family. Such a lose is felt by all that loved and knew David. I wish you and your family peace.
