David Silsbee

Obituary of David L. Silsbee

David Silsbee, cherished husband and father, passed away on March 17, 2021, after several years spent battling Alzheimer's disease. He was born June 29, 1938 in Ithaca, NY and grew up on his family's farm in Candor, NY. He earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University, where he also met his college sweetheart and wife, Christine. He had a career as an electrical engineer for many years with IBM, in Endicott, NY and Kingston, NY. He was able to retire early, and designed and built his own home where he and Christine were surrounded by the beautiful woods and creek back in Candor, NY where he grew up. He enjoyed many years working on countless projects on his house and land and going for many hikes on his handmade trails. He was never idle and was most at peace when he was out in nature. He and his wife, Christine, also enjoyed traveling to their home in Florida in their retirement years to escape the winter months. David was predeceased by his daughter, Susan (David Grewe) Silsbee, and his nephew, Erik Austin. He is survived by his wife, Christine, daughters Marsha Jameson, Mary (Curtis) Connor, five beloved grandchildren, Samuel, Mina, William, Andee and Tessa, sister Sharon Austin, and nieces Vicky (John) Books, Elizabeth (Joe) Robinson and their children, Erik, Ellie, Ben and Michael. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 25th at 10am at the Fuller Funeral Home in Canandaigua to celebrate and remember David's life with family and friends. Many thanks and so much appreciation is felt for Dr. Geoffrey Ostrander, and all the caring and supportive staff at Quail Summit and the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center.
