Obituary of Ruth M. Lane

Ruth M. Lane Canandaigua- Ruth Lane passed away on Friday, September 3rd, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital due to complications following surgery for pancreatic cancer. She was born July 29, 1946 in Passaic, NJ. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Vivian DeFalco. Survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles; son, Matthew; grandsons, Sam, Alex and Nathaniel; brothers James DeFalco, August DeFalco (Rosemarie) and sister, Debra Kwapniewski (Stan), as well as seven nieces and nephews. Ruth was a social worker and social work supervisor at the Bergen County Board of Social Services (NJ) for 33 years. After retirement, she began what she referred to as her "hobby job," supervising both the before- and after-care program at Heights School in Oakland, NJ, where she was and is affectionately known and remembered as "Miss Ruth". For the past eight years, she traveled through Europe with Charlie on river cruises throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as on very special trips to Italy and her beloved Sicily, where she had planned to return this coming spring. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 12th from 1-5 PM at Fuller Funeral Home in Canandaigua, NY. An 11 am funeral services will be held Monday, September 13th, at the funeral home, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
