Josephine "Jo" Brokaw Schilbe



Josephine "Jo" Schilbe passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022, in Wayland, New York.


Jo was born August 7, 1938 in Ossian, New York to the late Cleta "Arlene" and Marion Brokaw. In 1957, she married her beloved husband John "Jack" Schilbe, and they later gave birth to their son John Schilbe, Jr. They spent many loving years' together and created incredible memories before he predeceased her in 2013. Jo enjoyed baking and brightened the lives of many with her renowned Christmas cookies and pies.


Jo was also predeceased by her brothers Marion "Jr." and Harold, and by her sister Helen.


During her short illness, she was surrounded and cared for by her sister, friends, son, and her many nieces and nephews.


Jo is survived by her son John Schilbe; her sisters, Janice (William) Vogt, Jean D'Angiolillo, and Donna (Maylon Harvey) Brokaw; her brothers, Art (Marie) Brokaw, Jim (Kathy) Brokaw; sister-in-law, Claudia Brokaw; her nieces, nephews, and dear friends, Priscilla Trojan, Jodi Trojan, and Dianne Hostutler.


As per her wishes, no services will be held. We ask that you keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the loss of this tremendous loved one.


Donations in Jo's memory can be made to the Vincent House in Wayland, New York or to any local hospice house location.
