James Edward Tierney (Jim), 97, of Rochester, NY, passed away on February 11, 2025.
Jim was born on November 5, 1927, to George and Gladys Tierney of Chandler Street in Rochester; the 4th of their 5 children. During the Great Depression the family moved to Wolcott, NY where Jim started his schooling. After his high school graduation, Jim joined the U.S. Army. He was discharged in 1947 and began his career with the Rochester Telephone Company where he worked for 34 years until his retirement. After retirement he worked for AMSA armored truck as a driver and later drove a school bus for the Greece Central School District.
Jim is survived by his daughter Roxanne Tierney Houpt, son James Tierney II, grandchildren Peyton and Brooke Tierney, several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Tierney, siblings Jean Baker, Margaret Resue, Doris Duel and Charles Tierney.
Friends may call Wednesday, February 19, from 11-12 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 12 PM memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
