Obituary of June E. Moore
June Elaine Moore, 98, of Canandaigua, formerly of Falconer, NY passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 12. For the last two years, June resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dan Richter, under whose tender care she enjoyed many road trips, outings, games of Rummikub and backyard birdwatching.
June was born on June 30, 1926, in Dunkirk, NY. She was the only child of Charles and Hazel Royce Martin. After graduating from Falconer High School, she was employed as a dental receptionist and as a waitress. On June 14, 1947, she and Jack Moore, also of Falconer, were married. Together they raised four children. June enjoyed homemaking, especially sewing, and made many outfits for her girls and herself and many stuffed animals for her grandchildren.
Soon after moving to Canandaigua in 1975, June and her husband, Jack, entered full time Christian ministry and founded United Fellowship Church, now known as Door to Hope Church.
June supported her husband on many mission trips to India, Germany, England and Sweden where she befriended one and all. At home, she was known for her warm hospitality and kind, caring heart. June was a quiet, unassuming soul who focused more on "being" rather than on "doing". The fruits of the Spirit (listed in Galatians 5:22) grew abundantly in her life and blessed all who knew her.
June remained healthy and active for all of her long life. At 70, she could be found at the rink roller skating with grace and style. At 80, she was sledding with the grandchildren. At 90 she was cutting the grass on a riding mower. And at 95, she learned to drive a four-wheeler!
June is survived by her son Dennis (Jan Goodwin) Moore, daughter Mary Louise (Ed) Freda, daughter Nancy (Dan) Richter and daughter-in-law Sylvia Hobday Moore, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2014, her son Jim in 2020, and her infant great-grand daughter Dream Tillie Moore in 2022.
Later this summer, the family will hold a private celebration of June's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Door to Hope Church 3844 County Road 46, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
