Deanna J. Murphy Obituary

On April 23, 2025, Deanna passed away peacefully at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Deanna was born August 11, 1939, in Rochester, NY, to the late George and Lillian Thurston. She is also predeceased by her loving sister Barbara Kincaid, brother-in-law Jack Kincaid and their three children.

Deanna is survived by her husband Harold Murphy, her sister Georgina Tobias, her daughters Jacquelyn Preston, Barbara "Bobbie" (Kathy) Preston-Lavender, Susan (Brian) Picchi, Tracey (Jim) James, her beloved grandchildren Anthony (Candace) Stansbury, Tiffany (Julie) Preston-Brooks, Alysia Preston, Morgan (Karl) Fleming, Connor Preston, Sarah Bonacci, Nathan (Kimberly) Bonacci and Benjamin Bonacci, her cherished great grandchildren, nieces, nephew and many friends, not least of all, her dear friend Frances Freeman.

Deanna grew up in Spencerport, NY and graduated high school in 1957. She worked for many years as a secretary, starting her career at Eastman Kodak, with the bulk of her career at Victor Insulators, later retiring from Mitchell Person Jr., Inc. Realtors.

She had a lust for life and enjoyed all things, music, dance and theater related. She and her husband Harold (a.k.a. Murph) were avid fans of Fritz's Polka Band and were known to travel near and far to see them play and dance till their heart's content. They were also active members of the local Moose and Elks clubs until her illness made it difficult to continue doing the things she loved.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, Gardens Avenue and the UR Medicine Hospice Team, for their care and support during her difficult journey.

Per Deanna's wishes, in lieu of calling hours and a formal service, friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life at the Canandaigua Moose Club, 305 Ontario Street Ext., on Saturday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM.
