Obituary of David L. Sanford

Devoted Husband, Dad, Friend. Fiercely loved his wife, and his beautiful family! Lived each minute of his life putting his family first. Loved America, loved his hometown and his community…never flinched from his focus on the basics…. loyalty, patriotism, values… morals and faith. On May 29, 2025 beloved husband and father, David met his Lord in peace with his family surrounding him with love. David was born May 7, 1948 in Clifton Springs, NY to the late Lysle Sanford and Doris (McIntyre) Sanford and was predeceased by his brother Bruce Sanford. David is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of over 55 years Karen (Pratt) Sanford, daughter Tina Sanford (Hon. Craig Doran) sons Eric Sanford (Kira Carinci) Adam Sanford (Melissa McAvoy) Sanford. Grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Jack and Luke and grand pups. Along with brothers-in-law, Sherman Pratt, Jeffrey Pratt, several nieces and nephews, cousins and amazing friends. David graduated in 1966 from Clifton Springs High School and soon after started his career at Crosman Air Guns, quickly becoming plant manager. His passion for industry and manufacturing lead him to entrepreneurship…and starting a business with his sons -"Sanford Industrial Contractors, Inc." Together they built a successful, thriving company providing rigging and system installations throughout all phases of manufacturing. David loved his home, friends and golf in Florida, and at Clifton Springs Country Club. He was a car guy, boater on Canandaigua Lake and Lake Henry in his home community in Fla; A talented illustrator and model train enthusiast. David was the classic "Jack of All Trades"-always a project… never idol time. David loved research and history… leading him to research (pre-internet) his family genealogy, authoring a book about his family history. David was drawn to serve God as a deacon and longtime member of the United Church of Canandaigua; and to serve his community as Chairman of Hopewell Planning Board, and Chairman of the Hopewell and Victor Republican Committees, leading to his recognition as the Ontario County Republican Committee's Person of the Year. David's family extends heartfelt gratitude to all those who gave them peace and comfort during these challenging times… including their church community, and caregivers who showed much compassion and kindness. A 10:00 AM funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, at The United Church of Canandaigua, 11 Gibson St, Canandaigua, NY 14424. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
