Kathleen Fisher Dannahe Obituary

Devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Kathleen Helen Fisher Dannahe, 79, of Canandaigua, NY, passed away on June 11, 2025, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Kathy was born in Rochester, NY, on August 15, 1945, to Frederick and Clara (Bennett) Long. Her mother passed away during childbirth, so she was adopted and lovingly raised by Eula (Bennett) and Francis Fisher. Kathy graduated from Victor Central Schools and earned an AAS in Nursing from SUNY Morrisville, and a BA in Psychology from SUNY Brockport.

Kathy found her life's calling as a nurse at FF Thompson Hospital, working in the ICU and as a Nursing Supervisor. She felt it was a privilege to encounter patients at some of their most difficult times and was proud of her profession, enjoying supporting other nurses. She was known for doing what was right and advocating for those who could not advocate for themselves and was a former FF Thompson Nurse of the Year.

Over the years, Kathy volunteered for many organizations including Girl Scouts, House of John, St. Mary School, and St. Benedict Parish.

Kathy was an avid reader and enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, playing cards, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed listening to music and loved to "torture" her grandchildren by making them listen to music by John Denver, "Gospel" Elvis, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Kathy loved watching football and Syracuse basketball and found great joy in routinely beating her family members in the March Madness bracket challenge. She enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Prayer Shawl ministry at St. Mary's Church and getting together with her friends from the card club at the Salvation Army.

Kathy's favorite role was as "Nonnie" to her grandchildren. She was able to spend her retirement years attending their activities, helping with homework, listening to their stories, eating ice cream, and showering them with treats.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Dannahe of Canandaigua; her daughter Deborah (Gerald Jr.) Wiepert of Canandaigua; her grandchildren Gerald III, Sean, Meaghan, and Ryan; her sister-in-law Josephine Dannahe of Clifton Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings John Fisher, Marvin Fisher, Eugene Long, Sandra (Long) Kosienski, and George Pickering; her mother-in-law and father-in-law William and Mary Dannahe; her sister-in-law Helen Dannahe; and her brother-in-law W. Daniel Dannahe.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main Street, Canandaigua, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 am.

Please consider honoring Kathy through a memorial donation made to Thrive to Survive, PO Box 1146 Geneva, NY 14456 or www.thrivetosurvive.org.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Fuller Funeral Home for their extreme kindness and gentle and compassionate guidance.
