Beth E. Schutt Obituary

Beth E. Schutt (McFarlin), aka..Ma, Granny, Aunt Beth, passed away peacefully, June 12, at the Wayne County Nursing Home with her daughter by her side.

Beth was born July 26, 1929 in Webster, NY to parents Alton & Gladys McFarlin.

Beth graduated from Webster High School, Class of 1948.

She is survived by; daughter Linda Schutt, and Grandchildren: Jason (Carol) Mark; Aaron Mark; Todd (Karissa) Schutt,

Rachel (Erik) Soroka, Brian Schutt and Daughter-in-law Bree Schutt and 4 great-grandchildren.

Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beth was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Harold Schutt (1999) and son H. Lee Schutt (2014). Also predeceased by her sister, Myrtle Tierson (2022) and brother Gerald McFarlin (2000).

Beth loved her family and friends above all. She loved to bake and gave her sweet treats to family and friends and donated to many bake sale fundraisers for local organizations.

She was born and raised in Webster and upon her marriage moved to the Canandaigua area as the wife of a dairy farmer. Lovingly she was called a “city girl” but for 50 years was happy living and helping on the family dairy farm. Many happy times were had at the Harl-Beth Farm. Family and friends always gathered at the farm with everyone always being offered a meal and of course ice cream and a great dessert! Most birthdays for the past decade were celebrated with a “Birthday Banana Split” with her family ‘taking over’ the local ice cream stand!

Beth truly cared for others as was shown during her 20+ years working as Nurse’s aid at the Ontario County Health Facility. Upon her retirement in the early 90s she and her husband did some traveling and made new friends.

She was a member of the Chapin United Methodist Church since 1955! She participated in many aspects of the church and of course enjoying serving those “church suppers”. She also helped her family at the Hopewell Grange for many years donating pies and her waitressing skills to the Grange’s famous turkey dinners.

She was also a member of the Hopewell Historical Society.

The family wants to give special thanks to the caring and devoted staff at the Wayne County Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received the past few years and the Hospice folks during the last week. Also a special thank you to the 2 nurses who were with Linda and Beth in her final moments.

In lieu of flowers friends are encouraged to make a donation to your favorite charity.

Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Shortsville at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Wednesday, June 18, from 2-4 at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 4 PM memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
