Cesar A. Orrego Obituary

Cesar Orrego

1933-2025

Cesar (Chico) Orrego passed away on July 3rd, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Chiclayo, Peru, and was a deeply proud U.S. citizen. He lived a life defined by love, dedication, and generosity. He adored his beloved wife, Nelly, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love and strong values. Cesar cherished his daughters, Shyrl (Ed) Scalice and Jackie (the late Thad) Boss, and found immense joy in his five grandchildren—Carina and Adriana Scalice, Jessica, Chase (Katelyn), and Sydney Boss—each of whom he deeply loved.

Cesar retired from the City of Canandaigua Water Department, where he formed many cherished friendships. Before that, he worked for years as a skilled mechanic and as a compassionate English tutor for migrant families in the Yates County area. His work as a tutor reflected his lifelong belief in the power of education. He encouraged everyone around him to pursue their highest potential, always emphasizing the importance of learning and growth.

He was a proud, longtime member of the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department and deeply valued the friendships he formed there.

In his free time, Cesar enjoyed life's simple pleasures—laughing with family and friends, cooking, gardening, listening to traditional Peruvian music, solving Sudoku puzzles, and enthusiastically watching international soccer matches.

Cesar's legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and encouragement lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

We are deeply grateful to Dr. Nayana Kamath and her dedicated medical team at URMC for the outstanding care and attention they provided to Cesar over the past year.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY.
