Betty A. Schutt Obituary

Betty A. Schutt of Canandaigua, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the age of 67 after a long battle

with cancer and treatment related illnesses. She passed away peacefully with her two children by her side.

Betty is survived by her daughter Amanda Scarborough of Canandaigua, son and daughter-in-law Tony and Ashley Scarborough of Gorham, grandchildren Hunter, Kane, and Arya Scarborough, sister Shirley Schutt Stoddard of Canandaigua, brother William Schutt of Canandaigua, as well as nieces Patricia (Christopher) Burke of Phelps, Denise Hood (Frank Mueller), and Jodie Lasky (Dann Messervey Jr) of Canandaigua, and nephew Jeffrey Stoddard of Victor.

Betty is predeceased by her father and mother, Adelbert and Evelyn Schutt, and long-time boyfriend Ronald "Ronnie" Severino.

Betty was a 1975 graduate of Canandaigua Academy. She worked for extended periods of time at the Ontario County Health Facility, Clifton Springs Hospital, and Canandaigua Day Care (now Our Children's Place), all in the kitchen and/or dietary services. Her most recent job was as a clerk in the pharmacy at the Canandaigua Walmart.

When she wasn't working, at home cooking and baking, or spending time with her kids and grand-babies, "back in the day" you could find her out cruising around with her man Ronnie, volunteering at the Hopewell Grange dinners, or dancing the night away at the Hopewell Grange square dances. She also found great joy clogging with the Piney Mountain Cloggers back in the 80's alongside her niece, Patricia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hopewell Fire Department or Chapin United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at the Chapin United Methodist Church, 2339 State Rte. 21, Canandaigua, NY on Saturday, July 19th at 2 PM.
