Bruce Fredrick Bossard

Bruce Fredrick Bossard, loving husband and devoted father, passed from this life at his home in Farmington, NY, on July 20, 2025.

A longtime resident of Farmington, Bruce was born on May 31, 1954 in Hornell, New York to William and Alice (Carson) Bossard. He graduated from Canisteo Central Schools, where he met his wife of 52 years, Karen Alderman Bossard. They were married on February 24, 1973. Bruce attended Cornell University in Ithaca, where he earned a degree in economics.

While working full-time and raising a family of four, Bruce also completed his Master of Business Administration at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He held various banking positions until he retired from the National Bank of Geneva as Vice President of commercial lending. He continued working as a tutor for Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES for many years.

Bruce was a devoted father, lifelong mentor, and beloved member of the community— investing much of his time coaching baseball for his four children. His leadership and encouragement shaped their lives and those of countless young athletes.

Beyond the baseball diamond, Bruce was a dedicated volunteer—always the first to offer his time and knowledge, and the last to seek recognition. His love for the outdoors was a cornerstone of his life, reflected in the countless hours he spent hunting and camping. He found peace in nature and joy in sharing those experiences with his children and beloved dogs.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother, Alice; and his daughter-in-law, Amy (wife of Joshua). He is survived by his wife, Karen; his four children: Joshua, Kyle (Gillian), Jordan (Havilah), and Will (Catherine); his sisters, Anna (Dale) and Kay (DeNeil); his brothers, William (Carlise) and Donald (Kathy); his eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel.
