Rodney Dutton, age 78, of Canandaigua, NY, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025.

Rodney was born in 1947 in Olean, New York, and graduated from Victor High School. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Rodney bravely served his country in the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. His deep love for his family, faith in God, and devotion to his country were the cornerstones of his life.

He spent most of his years in Canandaigua, where he was known for his strong values, quiet strength, and unwavering support for his loved ones. Rodney was not only a member, but avid leader of the local Lions Club, Blue Star Mothers and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organizations.

Rodney is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Melanie Dutton; his children Tammy and John Nordstrand, and Brian and Wendy Dutton; and his cherished grandchildren: Seth, Sonny, and Samara Nordstrand, and Maya and Nicholas Dutton. Rod’s surviving siblings are Carole Tolbert and Grace Bilodeau.

He lost 2 older brothers Randy Dutton (42) and Dennis Dutton (22) and became the Dutton family patriarch early in life, especially for his brother's children. He cared for his nieces and nephew like his own kids. He made sure we all gathered every year for the family reunion. He was inclusive, compassionate and caring to all family, friends and fellow Americans.

Rodney’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled in those who knew him. He was a pillar of the community devoting his time to helping others in need. Thank you to the local veteran community that helped mend his soul through support, philanthropy and love for one another.

Rest in peace to one of the kindest souls that ever lived.

Calling hours to honor his life will be held at Fuller Funeral Home on Monday, September 22nd from 4-7 PM. His funeral with be at the same location, Tuesday September 23rd at 11am. We will head to Woodlawn Cemetery following the service for a military tribute.
