Rachel Moore Vaughn, 78, of Shortsville, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 24, 2025.

Rachel was born in 1947 in Sayre, PA to parents James and Louise Moore. She was the oldest of four children. Rachel was a class of 1965 graduate of Sayre High School. She moved to New York State in 1967 where she raised her children, Mike and Janet.

Rachel began driving school bus for the Red Jacket School District in 1988. She loved her job, her students, and her coworkers. In this career, she formed special bonds with families in the area, and in some cases, drove three generations of the same family. She retired in 2020.

Rachel was beloved by those who knew her for her spunky and witty personality. Even in her later years, she was filled with energy. She loved to sing and dance to her favorite songs, especially Wooly Bully and Mony Mony. She could sometimes even be seen doing cartwheels. Rachel was incredibly selfless, kind, and brought joy anywhere she went. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren Lindsay, Ally, Charlie, and Piper. She was also known as "Grammy" by many others throughout NY, MA, and AK.

Rachel was an avid sports fan supporting the Red Sox, Patriots, and Providence Bruins, but most of all, her grandchildren's soccer, softball, and basketball teams. She loved her community and had many dear friends.

Rachel was predeceased by her parents, James and Louise Moore, and her sister Rebecca Moore. She is survived by her children Michael Vaughn (Tracy Dupee) and Janet (William) Haigh, her grandchildren Lindsay Haigh, Allison Haigh, Charles Haigh, and Piper Vaughn, her brother Ronald (Nancy) Moore, her sister Renee Moore, the father of her children William Vaughn, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Details of a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rachel's honor in support of fundraising activities for youth sports programs in your local community.
