Ruth Marie Button, 61 of Phelps, passed away on January 16, 2026, at home surrounded by family.

Ruth was born on September 22, 1964, in Watertown, NY to Jane and Douglas Snell. She graduated from Manchester-Shortsville Central School District in 1983. Ruth was a secretary at Clifton Springs Hospital for many years.

Ruth enjoyed building Christmas villages, collecting snowmen and doing crafts. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and being with family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her partner of 32 years: Gordon Johnson III; her children: Mark (Kaylie) Button, Doug (Kate) Button and Timothy (Meg) Johnson; grandchildren, Sarah Button and Harper Johnson; sister, Tori (Craig) Perrin as well as a niece, Kaleigh Tennies and nephew, Ben Perrin.

Ruth was predeceased by her father, Douglas Snell in 1998.

Honoring Ruth’s wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
