Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy from December 1965 to December 1969. During his service, he trained and worked as a Flightdeck Coordinator, an experience that reflected both his technical skill and his leadership abilities. In future years, he often referred to his "Naval Ingenuity" to simply get a project done. He truly loved being a member of the Honor Guard, and cherished his Honor Flight trip to Washington, DC.
Lloyd graduated from Finger Lakes Community College, and then from Robert Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's Degree. He was the Administrative Coordinator at Canandaigua Academy in Canandaigua, NY for 30 years. He was known for his firm but fair leadership style at the school and was proud to help many students overcome adversity and earn their diploma just as he did. His kindness and generous spirit were evident by him bringing his own therapy dogs to school for those in need.
A man of many interests and talents, before college Lloyd ran a thoroughbred horse farm and always said that was his true calling. His love of farming began on his family farm as a child and continued with him being a gentleman's farmer of his own. Every spring he offered his garlic crop and spectacular flowers, which he patiently packed and delivered to his friends and family. Every winter he stocked food and accommodation for the caring of his various farm animals.
After excelling as a high school athlete, Lloyd was an accomplished Coach in various sports among FLCC, Canandaigua, Midlakes, Pal-Mac and Fury club with his preference being teaching and coaching basketball fundamentals and game strategy. He had a passion for helping students improve and he is fondly remembered by his student athletes and fellow coaches.
Lloyd's most cherished times were with family and sitting on the front porch with his beloved Linda admiring the birds and enjoying the breeze.
A man of strength and enduring warmth, Lloyd touched many lives through both service and friendship. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
