The angels came for Btay on Tuesday, February 17th at 9:30 a.m. She passed with love, dignity, and grace back into the loving arms of her family.
Brittany fought her brain cancer stoically for five years. She showed strength most of us could never imagine. Through it all, love wins. That is what she believed. That is what she lived.
Brittany was predeceased by her infant sister Katie Elizabeth; Cousin Steven John Webster Jr.; Uncle Tom Webster Sr.; her father, William Tay; her maternal grandparents, Jim and Sherry Webster; her paternal grandparents, Ruth and Howard Tay; and her favorite kitty, Spotter.
She leaves behind her beautiful eight-year-old daughter, Rosalee Catherine, who is much supported by her father Joshua (Breona) Spinks. She is also survived by her mom and dad, Karen and Ed Howe; her siblings Brianna Tay (Jimmy Dayton), Bruce Tay, Dylan Howe, Alesha Howe (Tyler DeGaugh), and Eddie Howe; her aunts and uncles Cathy (Tim) Ford and Steve (Janet) Webster Sr and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Brittany graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 2010 and went on to attend Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing at FLCC graduating in 2014. She knew she wanted to be a nurse since the second grade — and she did exactly that. Brittany worked as an RN at Rochester General Hospital on the stroke unit, at Thompson Health in the ICU, and at the Ontario County Correctional Facility. She had just renewed her nursing license in December — a quiet testament to her commitment and strength.
Brittany was a kind, loving, beautiful, crazy, amazing mother, sister, and friend. She was fiercely devoted to her daughter. She showed up for people. She laughed loud. She loved hard. She lived fully, even when life was unfair.
How do you put a perfect person's life into a paragraph? You don't. You carry them forward in stories, in the way you love your children, in the way you show up for each other. Brittany's spirit will live on in everyone lucky enough to know her.
Friends may call Saturday, March 14th from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua. A Celebration of Life will follow at Wally's Pub.
We love you, Britt. Always.
