Charles William Pelton, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026. Born on September 19, 1934, in Canandaigua, New York, he spent the majority of his life in Shortsville, New York, where he built a legacy of hard work, service, and devotion to family.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and continued his commitment through the Army Reserves for over 30 years. His dedication to service extended beyond the military. In his early years, he volunteered as a firefighter, always willing to step forward when his community needed him.

By trade, Charles was a welder for more than three decades. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and the quiet pride he took in building things that lasted. That craftsmanship carried into his personal life through his love of woodworking.

He lived a full and active life. Friday nights were reserved for bowling, a tradition he kept for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, happiest outdoors. He remained committed to his health and routine, faithfully visiting the YMCA three times a week. The American Legion was more than a place to visit; it was part of his daily rhythm and a community he deeply valued.

Above all, Charles was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma; his children, Christopher Pelton, Charles Pelton, Susan Henning (Jason), and Marylynn Pelton; his grandchildren, Alan Pelton, Eric Pelton, Jacob Henning, and Grace Caradori; and his siblings, Jean Paddock (Dan), Jim Pelton (Kathy), and Judy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Charles; his brother, Ronald; and his children, Mark and Annie.

A memorial service will be held at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Charles will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to service, and the steady presence he provided to those who loved him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the community he served.
