Dave was born in Rochester, NY to Julian and Shirley Lyzwa on April 23, 1959. He attended Greece Athena High School and has worked in the automotive industry for the past 50 years. At the time of his passing, he was employed as the Parts Manager at Vision Automotive Group in Canandaigua, NY. Throughout his career, Dave earned numerous certifications and received several awards from employers and manufacturers.
Besides his parents and siblings, Dave is predeceased by several fur babies (Tucker, Bella, Yukon, and Kenzie). Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara Piper Lyzwa, of Rochester, who was his best friend for the past 34 years along with his fur baby, Kacee.
His family was extremely important to him, and he will be greatly missed by his children Kate (Stephen Schmutzler) Lyzwa of Middlesex, Liz (Brock) Tarr of Prattsburgh, Stephanie (Josh) McLoud of Prattsburgh, Steven (Katie) Massey of Fairport, John (Melanie) Massey of Missouri, Cara (Tim) Igoe of Naples, and Tina (Jeremy) Craver of Texas. He was loved by many friends and his in-laws including Sandi DiBenedetto, Sue (John) Gitsis, Lorie (Jim) Keehn, and Jim (Tracy) Piper. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as 13 grandchildren (Conner, Emma, Ari, Lincoln, Madelynn, Nathan, Gracie, Ava, Lilah, Roman, Audrey, Rora, and Lily) who were the loves of his life.
Dave lived his life to the fullest and will be missed by his many life-long friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He loved to travel and he could often be found taking short daytrips to spend quality time with Barb. His favorite trips included traveling to New Brunswick where he shot his first bear, the Old Forge Hardware store to shop, or to Benezette, Pennsylvania to watch elk. He loved to fish, camp, and enjoyed many nights around the campfire. Dave spent many weekends riding the trails with Barb in their side by side. His favorite past times included celebrating with a bourbon ("two-fingers") and a cigar.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 1000 Elmwood Ave., Suite 900 Rochester, NY 14620 and the American Heart Association 25 Circle St. Suite 102 Rochester, NY 14607. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Canandaigua Emergency Squad (CES) for all of their efforts in our time of need.
In keeping with his wishes, in lieu of a funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
