Diane L. Tucker Obituary
Diane Tucker passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026 at the age of 74.
Diane was happiest at home with her husband, Lynn, sewing, baking, reading, or planning her next trip to visit her family. She enjoyed going to concerts and the theater, loved Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes and found great satisfaction in creating beautiful things with her hands and sharing them with the people she loved.
After her first marriage, Diane found love again in an unexpected way. She and Lynn had lived across the street from one another as children. Years later, they reconnected at a high school reunion, beginning a marriage that lasted 25 years.
They lived in Cincinnati for several years before building a home together in Canandaigua. After retiring, they traveled in their RV, visiting new places before always returning to the Finger Lakes they loved.
Diane loved sewing, baking, and creating things with her hands. She was a talented seamstress and was able to make almost anything. She taught her daughter, Catherine, to sew at a young age, sparking a love of creativity that would become a lifelong passion and later be passed on to her granddaughters, continuing a family tradition across three generations.
She loved being a grandmother and was always up for making the 12 hour drive from New York to North Carolina for dance recitals, graduations, birthdays, or simply to spend time together. Time with them often meant afternoons spent decorating cookies and cupcakes or working on a sewing or craft project together.
Her sewing was one of the ways she showed her love. She made everything from kindergarten backpacks and elaborate Halloween costumes to life-sized backyard teepees, complete with windows and her granddaughters' names embroidered on them. She never looked for recognition, she simply enjoyed making something special for the people she loved.
Diane was also a lifelong reader. She had a special place in her heart for children and education, supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and her local library. She believed every child deserved hope and every community deserved access to books.
One of the greatest sorrows of Diane's life was the loss of her son, Scott Murrell, in 2024. They shared a close bond and much the same quiet nature, and she carried his memory with her always.
Diane will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, her strength, and the care she put into everything she made and everyone she loved. More than anything, she created a home filled with warmth and creativity. Those who knew her will remember not only the beautiful things she made with her hands, but also the life she built through countless small acts of kindness and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn; her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Randall Pooler; her granddaughters, Anna, Alana and Eva; her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Murrell.
Friends may call Wednesday, July 8, from 2-4 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
