James E. "Jim" Cooksey, 81, of Manchester, New York, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2026, with his loving wife, Alice Vienna Cooksey, and his son, Bryan Cooksey, by his side.

Jim was born on March 1, 1945, to Charles and Gertrude Cooksey. He grew up in Canandaigua, New York, and graduated from Canandaigua Academy. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967.

After completing his military service, Jim attended Community College of the Finger Lakes and was a member of the college's first graduating class. He later worked for Harris RF Communications for 25 years.

Jim was the most patient and even-keeled man his family had ever known. Gentle, steady, and kind, he possessed a quiet strength that brought comfort and reassurance to those around him.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved his family deeply. Jim and Alice shared nearly 33 years of marriage and many wonderful adventures together. They especially enjoyed traveling in the various campers and RVs they owned over the years. Among their most memorable journeys was a round-trip adventure to Alaska.

Jim was a man of Catholic faith whose life reflected patience, humility, devotion, and love of family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his son, Bryan Cooksey, and Bryan's wife, Lindsey; his granddaughter, Mikayla Noto, and her husband, Anthony; his sister, Diane Martino (Bob); his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Terry Vienna (Sue), Ed Mott (Gail), and Tammy Vienna; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Cooksey; his mother-in-law, Margaret Vienna; his sister-in-law, Jackie Mott; and his nephew, A.J. Mott.

Jim will be remembered for his calm and gentle spirit, his unwavering patience, his service to his country, and his lifelong devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends may call Friday, July 17, from 4-7 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, at St. Dominic Church 97 W. Main St. Shortsville, New York.
