Earl Frank Thomas, 83, of Rushville, NY, passed away peacefully, holding hands with his loving wife Olivia, on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Born in Weedsport, NY to Russell and Katherine Thomas, Earl was an avid athlete and exceptional student graduating as the Salutatorian of his senior class. He went on to further his education at the University of Rochester, where he lettered in both football and wrestling while earning his degree. Earl's career as an educator spanned 30 years teaching math at the Canandaigua Junior Academy while also coaching basketball and baseball in the community for a number of those years. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and making them laugh. His obsession with baseball led to a long side hustle playing in (and writing songs about) his fantasy baseball league.

Earl is survived and missed by his wife Olivia; his children Allison, Noel and Seth and son-in-law Chris Leounes; five grandchildren, Anthony Thomas, Electra Leounes, Shawn Thomas, Logan Leounes, and Olivia Grace Thomas; brothers Glenn, John and Russ. He was predeceased by his sister Marguerite.

The family cannot express enough gratitude to the wonderful staff and administration of Quail Summit for the wonderful care they provided Earl over the last 18 months. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a future date.
