William Francis Wardwell March 8, 1944-December 6, 2014 Born on March 8, 1944 in Canandaigua, New York, to the late Francis Joseph and Helen Breen Wardwell, Bill grew up in Canandaigua, NY. Bill graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1962. He went on to attend college, at Niagara University and graduated in 1966, with a degree in Business Administration. After college, he started a career with Rochester Telephone in Rochester, NY. In 1978, he transferred to United Telephone of Ohio, where he worked as a Director of Rate Planning and Tariffs. In 1985, Bill transferred his family to Carolina Telephone of Tarboro, NC where he served as the Vice President of Administration. In 1990, his last move was to Overland Park, Kansas where he served as the Vice President of Service Costs and Pricing until his retirement after 33 years in the communication industry in 2000, in Lake Mary, Florida. Bill will be remembered as proud, loving and generous husband, father, “papa”, son in law, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid Sports Fan (especially college basketball), golf, stamp collecting, gardening and boating with his grandkids tubing, knee boarding and skiing at their summer home on Lake Gaston, NC. Bill loved life to its fullest. He always greeted everyone one with his amazing smile and “Hey, how are you?” His conversations with all his “FRIENDS,” were always genuine and heart-felt. Bill always made everyone feel like they were his family. Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dianne Elizabeth DeWaters Wardwell; daughter Tracy Wardwell and husband Cleve Sorrell of Durham, NC, sons, Andrew and wife Bridget of Wake Forest, NC, Patrick and wife Jennifer of Waxhaw, NC; and seven grandchildren, James, Victoria, Wyatt, Lana, Dylan, Logan and Elena.; numerous nieces and nephews. He has a brother, James Wardwell and wife Myra of Littleton, NC and sister Marianne Wardwell Gorman and husband Jerry of Canandaigua, NY. A memorial Mass for Bill will be held at a time and date to be announced. Arrangements are under the care of Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made: St. Mary’s Catholic Church 95 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Foundation 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
