Obituary of Pauline Walsh

PAULINE L. WALSH 3/1/1928-2/12/2015 Canandaigua- Pauline Walsh entered into eternal rest on February 12, 2015 at the age of 86. Pauline was most recently a resident at Quail Summit in Canandaigua where she shared many great moments and cherished the friendships she made while living there. Born in Bangor, Maine on March 1, 1928, Pauline was the daughter of Roy Evert and Mary Louise (Doran) Johnson; and sister to Margaret “Lucille” Johnson and Roy E. Johnson, Jr. After graduating from the University of Maine at Orono with a BA in Psychology, she met her husband, Richard T. Walsh, Sr. when he was stationed at Dow Air Force Base as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. They were married on December 28, 1953 in Bangor, ME. She had worked at Medfield State Hospital in Massachusetts while pursuing her degree in Psychology. Pauline moved to Queens, New York City with Richard and raised their family there. Pauline spent many years as a stay at home mother and later working as a Betting Clerk at NYC Off-Track Betting as a Clerk. After retirement, Pauline and Richard moved to the Catskills Mountains where they enjoyed, cross country skiing, water-color painting and the local theater group, Open Eye Theater. They moved, thereafter to Thompson Ridge, NY and Pauline then moved finally to Canandaigua in 2008. Pauline will be remembered by many for her intelligence, wit and humor and for her ability to complete the New York Times Crossword puzzle on Sunday mornings in record time with the input of every family member. Pauly or Polly, as she was affectionately called, was the loving mother of 4 children and grandmother of 5, took great pride in all of their many achievements. She is survived by many loving family members, including her son Richard T. Walsh and his wife Tami Walsh (Centereach, NY), their sons Ian and Ryan Walsh, son James W. Walsh and his wife Germaine Walsh (Jackson Heights, NY) and their sons Patrick and James Walsh, John M. Walsh (Jackson Heights, NY), and Catherine Menikotz and her husband Michael and their daughter Jennifer Menikotz). Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved to share all of their joys and successes in life and would often be found proudly telling her friends of all their accomplishments. Friends may call Monday, February 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua.
