JOHN ROMAN Loved Building CANANDAIGUA John Roman, 83, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at his North Road Home. Friends may call at the Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the New Covenant Baptist Church, County Road 46, Canandaigua on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions in John's memory may be made to the New Covenant Baptist Church, 4317 County Road 46, Canandaigua, NY 14424. John was born in Binghamton, NY on December 20, 1925 to the late Andrew and Hilda Roman. He attended school in Johnson City and later received an Associates Degree from CCFL. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WW-2 and again during the Korean War. He retired from NYSEG as assistant supervisor of operations in 1986 after more than thirty years of service. John had been an EMT with the Canandaigua Emergency Squad, an active volunteer at Thompson Hospital and was involved with Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the New Covenant Baptist Church, a church which he helped build. John enjoyed sharing his carpentry skills with friends, family and his church. He is survived by his children Darlene (Robert) Virkler of Canandaigua, Elrene (John) Thomas of Poughkeepsie, John (Judy) Roman of Penn Yan and Diane (David) Sprague of Batavia; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his brother Rudolph (Rosemary) Roman of Binghamton; his sister Vilma (Vern) Teeple of Vestal and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy, in October 2007. John 14:1-3
