Obituary of William D. Carmel

William D. Carmel, 86, passed away on July 1, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was the devoted husband of Beatrice Carmel for 64 years. The son of Claude and Laura Carmel. William resided in the Finger Lakes area for his entire lifetime. Mr. Carmel started a still successful business, Carmel Trucking, with Beatrice in 1959. Bill was an Army Veteran of the Korean War where he was in the signal Corp. He was the father of Donna Colf (Scott), Sharon Mastin (Tom), and David Carmel (Deborah). William is survived by 7 grandchildren Jeremy Colf (Vicky), Melissa Colf (Derek), Mark Mastin, Travis Carmel (Megan), Michelle Allen, Scott Carmel (Beth), Nicole Carmel, 9 great grandchildren, Jakob, Lukas, Kyle, Macie, Holden, Dehlia, Hannah, Claire, Elise and longtime employee James Colf Jr. He is survived by siblings Betty Warters, June Lynn, Roger Carmel, Charles Carmel, sister in-law Dorleen Carmel and a large extended family. William was predeceased by his siblings Hazel Crowley (Robert), Jim Carmel (Dolly), Leroy Carmel (Mary), Richard Carmel (Dorleen) and brother inlaw Frank Lynn. William enjoyed hosting family and friends at his second home in Ellenton FL. during the winter months. Bill also loved WORKING, training Labrador Retrievers, antique cars, antique toy cars, and hunting for tools and equipment at estate sales and auctions. Friends may call Thursday, July 6, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. An 11am funeral service will be held Friday, July 7, at the funeral home.
