Obituary of Rick Haskins

Rick Haskins passed away peacefully at the age of 69 with his devoted, loving wife by his side on October 22, 2023, after a brief battle with Cancer. Rick is survived of his wife of 49 years Kim Haskins; two children, daughter, Allison (Jeff) Liberati; son, Adam Haskins (Jen Moore); grandchildren, Madisyn, Alexys, Zachary, Callie, Natalie, Ethan, Justyn, Maci, Parker and Gracelyn; siblings, Becky (Murray) Lankford, Gary (Karen) Haskins, Guy (Jackie) Haskins; sisters in-law, Sharyn (Joe) Pate and Lori Englehart; brothers in-law, Chris (Shelia) Englehart and Steve (Lisa) Englehart; nieces, nephews and cousins. Rick was pre-deceased by his parents, Bill and Eunice Haskins; father and mother in-law, Foster and Barbara Englehart. Rick was born on September 21, 1954, and spent his childhood on Park Street in Shortsville, NY. Rick graduated from Red Jacket high school in 1973 where he met the love of his life, Kim and married in 1974. They had 53 wonderful years together; they were each other’s soul mates. Rick was an avid dragracer and loved everything with a motor; cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles, you name it he loved it. And he loved to tinker on them even more. Saturdays at the racetrack is where you could find him. Rick also loved to display his ’66 Pontiac GTO at Cruise Night at Wegmans. Rick was a guy’s guy; he had breakfast with his buddies every Saturday morning and met up with friends for coffee. He had countless trips to Carlisle, PA for car shows as well as an unforgettable trip for the Sema Car show in Las Vegas with his son Adam and brother Gary, his best buddies. Rick also enjoyed going to Americade for Bike Week in Old Forge. Rick was quick witted, had a humor and sarcasm like no other, a smile and laugh that would light up a room. He was a friend to all, and just a genuine nice guy. Rick worked at Mobil Chemical/Pactiv from 1973-2005 holding numerous titles throughout his time there. He then was Plant Manager at Sigma Stretch Film in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he and his wife lived for 12 years before retiring back to NY. In his retirement, Rick worked for NuWay Auto Parts part- time where he immediately made fast friends. Rick loved to work on his dragster that he shared with his son, ride his Harley – most of all he was a devoted husband and father. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. He will be especially missed by his loving family. Rick’s family would like to express their profound gratitude to the Palliative Care Staff at Strong Memorial Hospital. Their heartfelt and loving care in his final days will be forever cherished. Relatives and friends are invited to Fuller Funeral Home at 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. for Calling Hours with a Memorial Service to immediately follow. Burial will be private and at a later date. All are invited to a reception at the American Legion Post 34 in Shortsville, NY immediately following services.
