Paul Bogart II

Obituary of Paul M. Bogart II

Paul M. Bogart II passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024. He is pre-deceased by his parents Paul, Sr., and Jean Bogart. Paul attended Fairport High School and Alfred State University. His career as a steamfitter spanned many years including nearly 30 active years in U.A. Local 13 Plumbers & Steamfitters in Rochester. Paul and his wife Colleen (Diggins) had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. His sons meant the world to him. He was proud of Corey and Nash and thrilled to have Venessa (Goben), Corey’s wife, join the family. He treasured time with his grandsons Carson and Landon—riding the tractor, planting the garden, picking apples, and playing in the sandbox he built for them. He always kept them supplied with John Deere tractors and clothing. And they loved to wear the boots grandpa gave them year-round! Paul appreciated the relationships he developed with his extended family – especially when participating in shared interests. Having retired in 2011, his life grew even fuller, and he continued to enjoy time with loved ones so much that he wondered how he ever had time to work! His favorite pursuits included farming, conservation, raising pheasants, hunting, cars, boating, fishing, and the shooting sports. Paul enjoyed the company of many circles of friends—the lake crew, the shooting sports club members, U.A. Local 13 colleagues, those who raised pheasants, plus others who have been a big part of his life. He was always happy to lend a helping hand—and his friends returned the favor for him and our family throughout the years. Paul loved dogs—his own Ben, Bear, and Butch (who was his lifesaver back in 1981); his grand-dogs Charlie and Max—and those of all his friends. The dogs always returned his love and enjoyed the “last bite” he saved for them. We’ll imagine him saying… “I worked there!” “I hope my boat’s okay.” “Did you get your car washed?” …one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, and will miss him every day. Paul’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Calling hours will take place at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424 from 2-5PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024. A service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Pheasants Forever or Ducks Unlimited which would be greatly appreciated as two of Paul’s favorite organizations.
