John E. Thompson Palmyra- John Thompson, 66, passed away September 1, 2013 at home. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Thompson Sr.; mother, Sybil Thompson; and granddaughter, Hailey Wicks, all from Canandaigua. John is survived by Anita (Solvey) Thompson, his spouse in heart and soul; children, David Hineman, Kyle (Vicki) Cole, Rhonda (Robert) Kidd, Tina McMahan, Amber (Matt) Tennies, Travis (Ameda) Wicks, and Joneelynn Thompson; 19 Grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Vernon (Doreen) Thompson, Jimmy (Ellen) Thompson; sisters, Lillian (Reggie) Coon, Patty (James) Moon, Kathy (Randy) Barnhart; and a multitude of nieces and nephews that he loved very much. John's family did not consist of just blood relatives. He had a bigger family of friends and musicians that were by his side. He played lead guitar in Al White & Country Smoke Band and they were a family in its own. He loved his band family very much. John's family would like to thank Al and Myrreah White for all their love and support they gave to John and his family in his last two weeks of his life. Al has been a brother to John for over 40 years and made sure he had the best care possible in his final days. John left us all with many of our own special memories that we can all share at a 2 p.m. memorial service Sunday September 8 at the Canandaigua Moose Lodge, 305 Ontario St. Ext., where you can continue to celebrate John's life following the service. John's wishes were to be cremated and shared amongst his children and at a later date will have a final resting with his father and mother.
