Obituary of Carmella Calabrese

Carmella Mary “Ducky” Calabrese Canandaigua- Carmella Calabrese passed away April 16, 2104 at F.F. Thompson Hospital. Carmella was the driving force behind Ralph Calabrese in his fight for the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital. Always willing to support the cause, she would help to organize his V.A. Veterans Update that aired on FLTV channel 12, answering phone calls and taking messages from Secretary of Veterans Affairs Principi and other elected officials. Carmella tightened the household budget in order to ensure Ralph’s vehicle was maintained for the many miles traveled while lobbying for the V.A Hospital. She also volunteered with fund raising endeavors for the V.A. Hospital, such as the bike runs. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ralph Calabrese; son, Dominic (Sandi) Calabrese; brothers and Sisters, Louis (Marilynn) Bruno, Theresa (John) Zugec, John (Linda) Bruno, Katy (Steve) Curry; grandchildren, Dominic (Heather) Calabrese, Shannon (Richard) Deys, Shane (Charlene) Casey, Kristen (Mike) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ryan Johnson, Jacob Deys, Morgan Tyler, Dominic Calabrese III, Meghan Deys, Alexia Johnson, Geno Calabrese, Makayla, Ella Casey; many cousins, nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Karen Calabrese. Carmella was predeceased by two sons, Joseph D. Calabrese, Ralph D. Calabrese; and a sister, Ursala (Anthony) Manino. Friends may call Friday (Today) from 4-7 pm. at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 10 am funeral service will be held Saturday April 19 at St. Stephen’s Church, 48 Pulteney St. Geneva. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua.
