Earl W. Thompson “Pokey” Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather Canandaigua, N.Y. Earl “Pokey” Thompson of South Main St. Canandaigua passed away September 2, 2009 at Thompson Hospital. He was 84 years old. A lifelong resident of Canandaigua, Pokey served in the U.S. Army during WWII and fought at the Battle of the Bulge receiving the Purple Heart. Pokey worked for the N.Y. State Thruway Authority and Calvary Cemetery. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Shortsville American Legion, a lifetime member of the DAV, Purple Heart Organization and the VFW. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Ruth Thompson. Children; Patty (John) Rasmussen, Penny (David) Zanghi, Pauline Thompson, Pam Chrysler, Arthur “Butch” Wright and Frank (Debbie) Bowman. Sisters Eleanor Taylor, Gerry Gulivan. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, September 4th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday September 5th at St. Mary’s Church, Main St. Canandaigua, with a burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
