I had the privilege of knowing Scott when I attended FLCC 2002-2004, attending the same Zion Fellowship small group together. I remember being so impressed with how young Scott and Susanna were and already having 2 kids. The word that stands out to me when I think of Scott is genuine. His love of God really encouraged my own faith in Him. Though the last time I personally saw Scott was 16 years ago, knowing that he's not out there somewhere playing with his kids definitely makes the world feel like an emptier place to me. My heart and prayers go out to Susanna, Emily, Caleb, and the other kids.

No words can say how sorry I am about Scott's passing. He was a wonderful and brave man! I know your faith will sustain you during this time. The Shimp family started out as business associates and quickly became stalwart friends. My heart breaks for all of you. You will be in my thoughts Saturday and all the days beyond. With love and sympathy - Ruthi

I am deeply saddened by this news. Scott was a amazing person, and always went out of his way for others. He will deeply be missed. Scott played a key role in organizing the fundraising for Marcus Whitman Elementary schools year after year. On behalf of all the Marcus Whitman families who got the pleasure to work with Scott and the rest of the family, our condolences.

I pray for the Shimp family. May you find peace and strength in God. May He be your shoulder to cry on.
I remember Scott in youth group when Zion was still in the old lisk building on Gotham st. I remember him and Matt being best friends and hanging with his family a lot. A lot of great memories. He will be truly missed.

We have wonderful memories of Scott as a teenager & young adult. He slept on our couch a number of times - I told him his "form" was etched into our couch. He had the gift of drawing you into a story, had you eating from the palm of his hand, then tossed in the line about the purple dinosaur. Really, Scott????? I fell for that AGAIN?!! Love the Shimp family.
