Obituary of John Clawson

John William Clawson (Jack) Canandaigua- Jack Clawson died peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 12, 2014. He was 90 years old. A life-long resident of Canandaigua, Jack was a sociable, thoughtful, civic-minded man who was a well loved member of our community, the Erina Hose Fire Department, Kiwanis and St. Mary’s Church. He sat on the founding board of the Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center, BOCES, in Flint, NY and was an active member of the Democratic party. Jack served in the US Army Air Force during WWII as an airplane mechanic and became an electrical engineer after attending RIT. He was employed by RG&E for his entire career and worked in both the Canandaigua and Rochester Offices, spending many years as director of Area Development. He loved the Finger Lakes and knew every wood, farmland and stream alongside Canandaigua Lake. Jack was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lucia Alberts Clawson. He is survived by a large extended family including four children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren,who will all miss him very much. A 10 a.m. funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 18 at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua. Arrangements are under the care of Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canandaigua Fire Dept. or Meals on Wheels of Ontario County.
