I met Helen on my way with my family doing research for my family tree. It was truly a pleasure to have met her and found out we were related. I was so grateful for the time, generosity and support she took to provide. She was so awesome and I wish I could have had more time with her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Helen a few years ago when my mom and I drove down to Bristol and we all had a great afternoon talking about Totman genealogy. She was so kind and generous with her time and knowledge. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

While no words of mine can ease your loss, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to Helen's family. Helen has been an inspiration to all of us and her shining demeanor will always be with us. Helen has given us her wisdom, and has donated an astronomical amount of time to the Town of Bristol as Town Historian. I know that death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love and friendship leaves a memory no one can steal. With, love and prayers, God bless you Helen, Raymond B. Barend

I was so very sad to read of Helen's passing in the paper and so sad that I neglected to keep in touch with this very special lady better. When we moved to Bristol in 1979, we stopped to ask Bud and Helen (Mr and Mrs Fox to us) if we could purchase a couple large wooden beams they had taken down when razing the house on their property which I believe was her parents' home. Bud smiled and said NO but that he would gladly bring them down to us as a welcome to Bristol gift. They were first to welcome us and we visited them many times over our 9 years we lived just 1/2 mile south of the center just past Clute's house. Our kids loved the pond up the hill from their house and their golden retriever they had for many years and also the cookies Helen always seemed to have for them. What a treasure Helen was in both kindness, gentleness and knowledge of history. I know I am part of a legion of people who mourn her passing but I have faith that she and Bud's spirits are together again.

Helen was the most wonderful, adorable, informed person, I have ever had the pleasure to meet and came to call her a dear friend. She could light up a room with her smile and her soft demeanor. She was knowledgeable of her dear town's history and even years later, still spoke lovingly of her dear "Bud" who she sorely missed. Helen I'm sure, was an inspiration to many, and loved by many. Such a remarkable woman, that many of us earned the right to call her a 'dear friend' ... no matter how many miles separated us. She is resting now, and with her "Bud" and probably "rubbing elbows" with many of her ancestors and friends and other family. Loving you Helen. You are one of the best!! Dianne & Hugh T.

Dear Jim, Keith, Fred, Peter, Jane: We are very sad with the news of Helen's passing. It was easy to understand why the family called her Honey, for she was truly one of the sweetest persons one could meet. We liked her as a person and appreciated her hospitality toward us. She always demonstrated fondness for her family, and delighted us with stories about her childhood and about the happy moments she shared with her sisters and cousins. We also appreciated her work in genealogy and the history of her beloved town, Bristol. She touched us as I know she did many others. We will miss her, especially when we visit the Totman-Corser-Herendeen farm and are not able to have her with us. Honey, you are loved by your family. May you rest in peace. Noemi, Tami and Jaime Herendeen
