Obituary of Robert Schmeer

Life Legacy Robert “Dyke” Schmeer Canandaigua- Robert “Dyke” Schmeer, age 83, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 peacefully with family members by his side. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane; five sons, Lee (Charlyne), Kent (Carol), Jack (Michele), Jeff and Mark (Bev); nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and his brother, Gerald. He was predeceased by his brother, Phil and his sister, Nancy. After serving four years in the United States 4th Army Band, Dyke moved to Canandaigua in 1954. He worked at Kordite and Mobil Chemical for 39 years, was a Cub Scout Master, church choir director, played in the Canandaigua Alumni Band, Victor Community Band, Finger Lakes Concert Band, and wrote and directed 18 Canandaigua “Y” Shows. Per Dyke’s wishes and instructions there will be no calling hours, but friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
