CAROL OESTREICH Loving Mother & Grandmother CANANDAIGUA: Former Hopewell resident Carol Oestreich, 80, of Quail Summit died January 8, 2010 at Highland Hospital. Carol was born in Shortsville on January 23, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Bea Quinter. She was a graduate of Shortsville Central School and was a member of the Hopewell Fire Department Auxiliary. She had been a cook for several local restaurants including Kellogg’s and had cooked for Clark Manor and Thompson Hospital. In later years she had been a volunteer with several local food kitchens. She was an active member of the United (Presbyterian-Baptist) Church where she sang in the choir and led many Bible studies. Carol loved to sing and was a long-time member of Sweet Adelines and recently was named the honorary leader of the Glee Club at Quail Summit. She and her late husband Phillip owned and operated a dairy farm in Hopewell for many years The widow of Phillip Oestreich, she is survived by her children David (Shirley) Oestreich, Canandaigua, Janet (Courtney Banks) Oestreich , Tucson, AZ, Allen(Becky) Oestreich, Orlando, Fl and Steven (Cheryl Haberly) Oestreich, Canandaigua; five grandchildren Sonya, Heidi, Tiffany, Drew and Chelsea; several great grandchildren and her brother Charles Quinter, Canandaigua. She was also predeceased by her daughter Joann in 1971. There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to a celebration of Carol’s life being held at the United (Presbyterian-Baptist) Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the United Church, 11 Gibson St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
