Obituary of Charles Ellis Jr.
Charles C. Ellis Jr., age 93, of Canandaigua, died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on Sept. 8, 2015.
Chuck is survived by his two sons, Brian Ellis (Cathy Buksar) and Terry Ellis (Lori); and granddaughters, Lindsey Schick (Bryan) and Nichole Ellis.
Chuck was predeceased by his wife, Irene; and son, Joel.
Chuck was a World War II veteran and member of the 101st Airborne Division. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and two Presidential Commendations for his part in the Normandy Invasion, Battle in Bastogne, Battle of the Bulge and the Holland Battle. He had 22 jumps during his service as a paratrooper and shook hands with President Eisenhower and Prime Minister Churchill before his jump on D-Day.
Chuck retired from Rochester Products/GM in 1987 and spent his retirement traveling and golfing.
He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and an endless amount of energy.
He was laid to rest in the family site beside his wife in Woodlawn Cemetery.
He will be greatly missed by us all.
