Obituary of Jean Baldwin

Jean Marie Baldwin of Bloomfield passed away on April 9, 2010 she was 92 years old. Jean was born May 28, 1917, to Henry and Olive (French) Frederick in LaMoure, ND. In 1934 she moved to Fishers, NY and graduated from Victor High School in 1936. On November 20, 1936 she married Charles Baldwin at the Methodist Church in East Bloomfield. They owned and operated Baldwin’s IGA in Holcomb for over 20 years. She was a charter member of the East Bloomfield and Holcomb Fire Department Auxiliary and served as the organizations president for the first 25 years of its existence, she was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northern Central New York Volunteer Fireman’s Association and a member of the Bloomfield Savage American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua for over 35 years. In 2001 she was presented with the “Above and Beyond Award” by the VA Hospital for her voluntary service. In 2003 the Bloomfield Savage American Legion Post 970 presented her with a plaque for 36 years of voluntary service. In 2004, the East Bloomfield and Holcomb Fire Department presented her with the Life Time Achievement Award. In 2007 she was presented with the President’s Volunteer Service Award in recognition and appreciation for her commitment to strengthen our nation and making a difference through volunteer service. She is survived by her son Ralph (Linda) Baldwin of Windsor, CO and daughter Nancy Outhouse of Orlando, FL, 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, brothers Claude and Howard, sister Opal, daughter Barbara and sons Charles, William and John. Friends may call at the Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Bloomfield-Holcomb Volunteer Fire Department, 105 Main Street, Bloomfield, NY 14443.
