Obituary of Gloria Bell

Gloria M. Bell Canandaigua, NY Gloria Mohr Bell, 86, of Canandaigua died a peaceful death on Wednesday May 5, 2010 at House of John in Clifton Springs, NY. Gloria was born on September 8, 1923 to Dorothy and Charles Mohr. She was the younger sister of Dorothy Mohr Henry. As a young woman, Gloria enjoyed an active social life in Middletown, NY. While working at Republic Aircraft in 1947 she met her husband, the late Arthur Bell. Gloria and Art lived in Queens, NY before building their dream home together in Pines Lake, NJ. Art’s job with Bausch and Lomb brought them to upstate NY, where they lived in Pittsford with their three children. After retirement they settled in Canandaigua, NY where they enjoyed life at the lake and traveled extensively. Gloria was a caring and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Throughout her life, Gloria always had time for her friends and was a gracious host who entertained frequently. She was renowned as a conversationalist and a good listener as well. This remained true up to her final days at House of John. Gloria loved others and was loved in return by her family and friends of all ages. Gloria is survived by three children: Roberta Bell, of Chatham, NJ; Jody Robinson, of Honeoye Falls, NY and A. Dean Bell of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to House of John 14 Spring Street, Clifton Springs, NY 14432. Visiting hours will be held on Friday May 7 from 4pm until 7pm at the Holiday Harbour Clubhouse in Canandaigua. A memorial mass will be held at 10am Saturday May 8 at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
